If you want to be a successful recruiter and top producer, you must know your numbers and you must WORK the numbers. This business is a numbers game, in the beginning when you start off, until you gain the skills and develop more confidence.
When I first got started in year 2000, I didn’t have enough skills. What got me going is the large contact list that was 250 names and kept on adding on it on regular basis.
The numbers NEVER lie. Study any top earner in our industry and you will find that MOST of them have personally sponsored minimum 100 to 300 people, and sometimes much more than that, yet they make most of their money (at least 80%) from just one to three of those people. Isn’t that amazing?
The truth is most of the people you sponsor will do very little if anything at all to build the business, regardless of how much you help them. Your job is to be there to support everyone, but work with the willing.
Typically, one out of every 20 to 30 people you recruit will be serious about the business and one out of every 50 to 100 people will be a rock star who catches the vision and really gets after it!
Those are the people you are really looking for. These are the folks who will do the heavy lifting and build most of your team for you.
In most cases, you will find these people in depth. Your other team members will lead you to these people.
It’s going to be hard to make it to the top ranks just by sponsoring 10-20 people. Can it be done? Yes, but it isn’t likely and it isn’t the norm in our industry. Go out there and work the numbers and everything will fall into place.
Sponsoring 300 people sounds like a huge number, but if you sponsored just one person a week, you could do it in six years. Sponsor just two people per week and you could accomplish it in three years.
Anyone could sponsor 1-2 new people per week by making 5 to 10 exposures per day. Sadly, most people in our industry don’t do that. Most people in our industry don’t even make one exposure per day.
The good news are, with technology and the existence of 3rd party tools. It’s easier now to reach more number of prospects with shorter time period, than t used to be 18 years ago, by sending them videos, audios, 3 ways conference calls, video calls.
The key to success is to look at what everyone else is doing and do the complete opposite. Model the behavior of the top earners and there is a good chance you will become one yourself!
